The Many Uses Of Prepaid Phone Cards by A. Pruder

Prepaid phone cards are very popular among college students, frequent travelers or simply by anyone who wants to save on their long distance and international calls. Rechargeable prepaid phone cards are especially economic because the minutes that are added after purchasing the card are often less expensive. For instance, an AT & T prepaid phone cards can be purchased at most Wal-Mart stores at a cost of approximately $.08 per minute. When recharged, the minutes average $.05 each.

There are a number of reasons why prepaid phone cards are so popular, including the need to sometimes dial into a long distance telephone number for internet connections. Rather than paying the higher charges with the phone company, the user can have their modem dial using the calling card and then connecting to the internet.

While on vacation, hotels charge significant rates for long distance calls, but prepaid phone cards allow the user to dial into a toll-free number before dialing out to a long distance line. This will save big bucks as it will eliminate any long distance charges on the hotel bill.

Some cellular phones, such as Tracfone, operate on a prepaid basis. For each local call, one minute of talk time is equal to one unit (or minute) of prepaid service. International calls, on the other hand, may be significantly more expensive. In an effort to minimize the cost, some cell phone owners opt for programming prepaid calling cards into their phone and dialing out using the toll-free number. International rates will be higher with prepaid phone cards, but will likely be less than that of a cellular or regular phone service. This process will work on either cellular phones or a regular landline connection.

Along that same line, prepaid phone cards are also helpful in sending faxes. The same rules apply with long distance fax numbers, which can be costly through local telephone companies. The use of prepaid phone cards can often reduce these costs.

Toll-free numbers are free at payphones, so if you find yourself having car trouble or needing to get in touch with someone and the only phone nearby is a payphone, don't worry about having the right amount of coins or having to call collect. If you have a prepaid phone card with you, the call will be routed through the toll-free number at no additional cost to either you or the person whom you are calling.

In addition to the aforementioned advantages, prepaid phone cards are simple to use, easy to recharge from the store of original purchase, online through the prepaid phone cards customer service or via the toll-free number listed on the back of the card.

Which cell phone service is the right for you? by Nikola Govorko

Before you decide to buy a cell phone you should first decide which service is right for you, regular or prepaid cell phones service. Both options have positive and negative sides to them.

Here we will try to list the major benefits as well as drawbacks of prepaid cell phones.

Benefits

1) Prepaid service is great for cell phone newbies. It is much simpler and you can learn as you go. It is very easy for a new cell phone user to go overboard and overcharge hers/his account.

No such problem with prepaid service, if you want to talk more you need to purchase minutes before you talk, so you are %100 in control. Also it is very easy to find a basic phone if you are just starting or do not need the extra options like camera, internet, MMS and many others.

On the other hand if you need them, fine you can still use them.

2) You can give them as present to your mother, father, grandmother, teenager kid or a friend. They can use them often, very rare or in emergencies. In any way, you always stay in contact.

Would you like to be able to contact your teenage daughter/son and know in an instant where and how are they? Well with prepaid service you can do just that and do not have to worry about getting an enormous monthly bill.

3) If you need cell phone but are not a regular user you can save a lot with prepaid cell phone. There will not be high monthly cell phone bills for minutes you paid for but did not use.

If you need it just in case of emergency then it is the right option for you.

4) Most of the regular contracts are now at least two years, so if you do not want to tie yourself up for that long, prepaid service is for you. No contract here.

Drawbacks or why prepaid service may not be right for you

1) If you are a heavy cell phone user, you will be much better off signing a contract. Regular monthly contracts have much better prices per minutes then prepaid service.

However make sure to think about when you will be using your minutes the most and then decide on a deal.

2) If you demand all of the latest features from your cell phone and plan on using most of them, you are probably better off with monthly paid service again.

Prepaid cell phones have many advanced features but service providers often reserve the latest few for their most valued costumers.

Which service is better? Only you can decide that. But the deciding factor should be how many minutes you plan to spend talking each month.

How to choose a long distance calling solution by Network Enhanced Technologies

Situation Number Two

2. I am a residential customer making long distance or international calls on a regular basis and I have broadband internet.

    2. In this case if you have broadband internet, you can go for even bigger savings by connecting through a VoIP Provider. VoIP is the newest technology in internet telephony and stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. The process of connecting to a VoIP most of the time involves canceling your local phone because it becomes useless for you and will just waste money if you already have a VoIP.

Typically what happens is you get a hardware called VoIP adapter which you connect to your broadband internet cable, and then you connect your phone to that hardware. Also, there are VoIP phones which you can directly connect to your broadband internet cable and you're all set. There is a connection fee with this service because your VoIP Provider gives you the hardware which costs them money.

Your VoIP Provider then designates a phone number for you which in most cases you can choose to have your area code. You simply get a full service phone (which most of the time contains even more features than your ordinary local phone company gives you), which is much cheaper to make long distance and international calls with. This is an ideal solution for residential customers or business costumers who regularly make international or long distance calls and have a broadband internet access.

Most of VoIP Providers will give you unlimited long distance (domestic) minutes included in your plan. The Prices start as low as $10-20 per month for this service whereas an ordinary land line phone will cost $40-50 per month with fewer features and with no long distance minutes included.

How to choose a long distance calling solution by Network Enhanced Technologies

Situation number one

1. I am a residential customer making long distance or international calls on a regular basis and don't have broadband internet.

1. In this case you will most likely want to go with a Long Distance Plan which will simply replace your existing local company's long distance access (or connect a new long distance access if you don't yet have any) for a more cheaper and suitable calling rate.

Most local phone companies charge higher rates for long distance calls. So choosing a dedicated Long distance Service will help you save on all of your long distance and international calls.

To do so, you simply need to sign up with a Long Distance Carrier then call your local phone company and notify them that you are switching your Long Distance Carrier.

The switching process usually takes about five business days after that you may simply pick up the phone, dial 011 and follow with your long distance or international number.

There are no access numbers, no pins, nothing.... This is the most convenient way to dial if you are a residential customer or a business customer who don't have any broadband internet connection.

Prepaid Cell Phone

The Advantages of Having a Prepaid Cell Phone by Morgan Hamilton

Do you think it's a financially viable option to trade your cell phone number with a pre paid cell phone? Consider my experience of having better experience of making the most out of cheap pre paid cell phone, especially while I am in a new city for a limited number of days. I was like that only, not willing to trade my regular cell phone number. I have worked in almost all states. The duration of stay in a city varies from less than a few days to many weeks.

Keeping Call Charges Down

I used to call my manager using my cell phone, which is expensive. I had to pay even while I receive a call from my head office, because of the roaming charges. Later I shifted the pattern to purchase a pre paid cell phone soon after I land in a different state. Thanks to the finance guy who pointed to me the advantages of using a makeshift pre paid cell phone.

What a Plan

I will give full marks to the convenience of pre paid cell phones that are on the go the moment I buy them. Shopping for pre paid cell phones is a relatively easy task for me and now I am better adapted to compare the charges of different plans from different cell phone companies and buy a phone with the cheapest plan. All I need is to furnish my driving license and a little paperwork - my experience is that simple in all the states I have visited over the last two years.

I then send a message to head office within two or three minutes of purchasing a pre paid cell phone and my manager can me at the least possible costs. My pre paid cell phones give me another important advantage; my local clients can reach me without making any long distance calls. It also creates in them the confidence that I am locally available at least for the time being.

I also find it amusing not having to pay a monthly subscription fees and the freedom to load the pre paid cell phone account with as little or as much money as I really need. If the visit to the city is for a few days only, I put lesser sums and for longer stays I buy a higher denomination pre paid cell phone card.

I am not boosting up about pre paid cell phones. They have their own disadvantages too. For instance, pre paid cell phones are not very profitable for a long term plan. It is the kind of determination and prudence in using the prepaid cell phone to your advantage that will work in your favor. No one can say it with greater conviction than one who is doing the same for more than two years now.
